Another Old Fashioned Corn Roast has come and gone – and I think I speak for all of us when I say we are truly overwhelmed with the outpouring of support (and love!) from our friends, family, & customers, who helped make this event possible!! Thanks to YOU, we were able to DOUBLE our attendance from last year and we had over 150 people join us for dinner & music under the stars! Seriously incredible!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
As we saw the ticket sales climb & climb in the day’s leading up to the big event, I would be lying if I told you we weren’t the least bit nervous to host our first sell-out… But at the end of the night, we couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything pulled together! Pig Kings BBQ did an amazing job working with us right up until the final hour as we added meal ticket after meal ticket to our catering order. And I’m glad we went along with their suggestion to include pulled pork sliders in our menu- they were a HUGE hit this year (; Everyone who has reached out to me since Saturday has said not only how much fun they had, but how amazing the food was, and we couldn’t have done it without Tony and his team’s hard work and patience!! Savannah King’s performance during the dinner was raved about by guests, (as always), & this year I was able to sneak out of the tasting room to actually hear a song or two. She set the perfect mood for the night, and I hope some of you were able to pick up her CD before you left! If not, you can find more about her (& her new band!) here: www.savannahkingmusic.com
I know I’ve said it time & time again, but I am blessed with the crew I work with (and for!). This year’s celebration was bittersweet, as we bid Ashley, who’s been a part of our Long Cliff family the last 3 years, farewell before she packed up her bags & headed off to Chicago to launch her new career! She took the night off to enjoy the event with her family, and we were able to officially introduce you all to a few AWESOME new people behind our bar: Jenn, Joe & Jamison. (and yes, that’s Jamison as in “Danielle’s fiance, Jamison!” who actually begged us to let him have a crack at what is usually MY job for the night! I think he did a pretty okay job! …but I’m biased.) Jenn comes to us from the Culinary Institute of Niagara Falls, where she’s wrapping up her degree in Winery Operations. Saturday’s Corn Roast was her first time in charge of the bar & I can tell you from experience (once or twice), it’s not always an easy job… but if I do say so myself, she rocked it! By the end of the night she had fully stepped into her role for the evening with both confidence & grace. I think everyone was impressed with how our tasting room crew served 150 people so quickly, and throughout the entire event was able to keep the lines short and the wine glasses full!
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this yet or not, but from the bottom of our hearts, our SINCEREST THANKS, goes out to everyone who took time out of one of their last weekends of summer to come celebrate another amazing year with us, and toast to the upcoming harvest season!! WE DID IT!!
…oh, and one more thing… we’ve locked in the date for 2016! Mark your calendars!! You won’t want to miss our FOURTH ANNUAL Old Fashioned Corn Roast!
I just wish I had been able to be there…. Leland
